Government Incentives

Choosing to switch to environmentally friendly alternate energy sources can reward you in more ways than one. Government incentive and reward schemes mean that you can receive tangible benefits simply by switching over to an alternative energy source!

A range of government incentives exist that reward users of alternate energy sources, whether you choose to implement a large standalone system to provide power to your home and to give back to the community or simply to heat your hot water supply, there’s a incentive for you.

Large-Scale Generation Certificates (LGCs)

Large-Scale Generation Certificates reward eligible installations of high-output alternate energy sources with an electronic form of currency created on the REC Registry.

A LGC is equivalent to 1 MWh of renewable energy generated over the power station baseline. These LGCs are validated by the Clean Energy Regulator and are transferrable between eligible parties.

Small-Scale Technology Certificates (STCs)

Small Scale Technology Certificates reward small domestic users of Solar Water Heaters (SWH), Air Source Heat Pump Water Heaters and Small Generation Units (SGU), including small-scale solar photovoltaic panels, wind and hydro electricity systems where eligible.

In general, a STC is equivalent to 1 MWh of renewable energy generated by a Small Generation Unit except where the Solar Credits REC multiplier applies, or 1 MWh of electricity displaced by the use of an installed Solar Water Heater.
